Spain holiday warning for Brits on stag and hen parties at popular resorts

BRITS heading to Spain for their hen do or stag party face much stricter rules at popular holiday resorts.

More police will be patrolling popular areas in Costa del Sol for anti-social behaviour.

This includes any loud noise or music being played at apartments including loud singing and shouting, with fines up to €300,000.

Noise monitors have now been fitted at apartments to prevent the rule-breaking.

According to , more police will be patrolling between 11pm and 6am in areas around Malaga.

The number of officers will rise from 15 to 45 officers who will also crackdown on boozing tourists.

Avelino Barrionuevo, councillor for security, said the new measures were because the city has become “very fashionable for stag and hen weekends”.

It is estimated that around 300,000 hen dos and stag parties are celebrated in Spain every year, but a number of tourist hotspots like Madrid and Salamanca have banned them in recent years.

Many of the Spanish islands are also cracking down on boozy British tourists.

The Spanish islands of Ibiza and Majorca recently introduced a six-drink limit at some all-inclusive resorts to prevent unruly drunken behaviour.

There will also be a ban on shops selling alcohol between 9.30pm and 8am, and a crackdown on advertising which encourages the consumption of alcohol.

And Palma council is reminding holidaymakers that breaching new rules aimed at cracking down on drunken behaviour could cost them fines of between €100 and €3,000.

It’s not the only problem Brits face if heading to Spain, with four-hour queues at passport control.

Pictures shared on social media by fed-up Brits show two separate queues at Malaga airport, with one sealed off with black tape for “all passengers” while another is closed off with green tape labelled for “EU citizens”.

Post-Brexit rules mean Brit holidaymakers can only stay in the Schengen area – a group of 26 countries with freedom of movement – for 90 out of 180 days.

And lots of restaurants and bars face closing over the summer season due to a shortage of staff.
