Spain holiday warning as Brits face £25,000 fine for going to parties
BRIT holidaymakers face fines of up to £25,000 for going to illegal parties in the Balearic Islands under new clampdown measures.
The fines, which are set to range from £251 to £25,000 for guests, would apply to partygoers in hotspots like Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca.
Those organising an illegal bash could be fined up to 300,000 euros (£251,000).
Food and drink suppliers as well as marquee providers could also be hit with the same hefty sum.
Announcing the plans, member of the Balearic Government, Mercedes Garrido, said: “We have been looking for measures to stop illegal parties and to make organisers think twice when they plan a party.”
He and Ibiza and the president of the Council of Ibiza, Vicent Marí, said the changes could be brought in for the summer season and would target parties which charging an entrance fee and advertising without a license.

It means the new rules are unlikely to penalise small family gatherings but could hit big do's which Balearic officials said boomed during the pandemic.
The measures come as officials in Majorca and Ibiza crack down on booze-fuelled chaos and drunken behaviour.
Holidaymakers will now be slapped with a six-drink-a-day limit instead of having alcohol on tap.
The regulations will affect tourists in Magaluf, Majorca and some areas of party island Ibiza.

And they mean tourists can only have three free tipples at lunch and three with their evening meal.
The block has been put on boozy pub crawls, the sale of alcohol in shops between 9.30pm and 8am and advertising party boats in some areas.

Balearic Government chiefs say they want to improve the image of the party resorts which have a reputation for boozy and bad behaviour.
But hotel owners are said to be worried - claiming tourists are already opting for alternative options outside the strict zones.
