Top Brit travel destination lifts flight ban

INDIA has lifted its international flight ban, two years after it was put in place.

The popular travel destination for Brits introduced the ban on March 23, 2020, and finally ditched it yesterday morning.

Regular flight operations have resumed as 60 airlines from 40 countries are permitted to fly up to 1,783 weekly flights to and from India this summer.

A senior official for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed Britain was one of the destinations that would once again be able to fly to and from India.

As reported in , they said: "Sixty foreign airlines of 40 countries have been allowed to operate 1,783 weekly flights to and from India.

"The airlines are from countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, the US, Germany, Singapore, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Japan, Russia, UAE, Australia, Qatar, Britain, Canada and Egypt."

All Brits must submit a before travelling to India.

Vaccinated travellers aren't subject to any Covid testing or quarantine requirements, but must self-monitor for 14 days after arriving.

Unvaccinated Brits must show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travelling. You must also submit a declaration to prove the authenticity of the test, or you'll be liable for prosecution.

Children under the age of five are exempt from Covid testing.

India is the latest country to relax Covid rules as travel restrictions ease around the world.

Spain has scrapped Covid testing and quarantine rules for anyone who has mild symptoms of the virus or those who are asymptomatic.

Last week the Canary Islands ditched all Covid rules, in a huge boost to Brits heading abroad.

The popular Spanish islands - which include Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria - are operating with no Covid restrictions for the first time since the pandemic began.

Gibraltar has scrapped all Covid testing requirements and the need to arrivals to fill in a passenger locator form, and the Maldives has binned Covid tests and face masks.
