European sunshine holiday spot scraps Covid testing for Brit tourists

GIBRALTAR is scrapping all testing requirements for Brits, making it easier to go on holiday.

Currently, all unvaccinated travellers must take a Covid test within 48 hours prior to travelling to Gibraltar.

Additionally, all Brits - regardless of vaccination status - must book a lateral flow test before arriving in Gibraltar, take it immediately after landing, and self-isolate until they get a negative result.

But from Friday, all testing rules are being scrapped, along with the requirement for arrivals to fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF).

From March 25, unvaccinated close contacts of someone who has tested positive for Covid will no longer need to self-isolate - but positive cases must still isolate.

The requirement for people to wear face masks was dropped earlier this month - with the exception of hospitals and other health service buildings.

Vijay Daryanani, minister for business, tourism and the port, has welcomed the changes and hopes it will bring Brits back into the country.

He said: "Gibraltar's safety has always been an important factor for our visitors, and now more than ever it is important that our visitors feel safe and secure.

"We are pleased to make it even easier for UK travellers to explore Gibraltar, and the elimination of airport testing and the PLF ensures visitors can travel seamlessly and with ease."

Gibraltar's scrapping of its PLF coincides with the UK doing the same.

All remaining Covid travel rules are being ditched from 4am on Friday in the UK, including PLFs and Covid tests for unvaccinated Brits.

It's not just the UK and Gibraltar that are relaxing Covid rules.

Yesterday, Greece ditched its PLF, making it easier for Brits to enter the country.

France has scrapped the mandatory use of face masks - with the exception of public transport and care homes - and Spain is expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.
