Spain holiday warning as new ‘bird poo scam’ targets tourists
BRITS heading to Spain for their next holiday have been warned of a new scam targeting tourists.
Two men were arrested by Spanish police last week after they were caught in the Costa del Sol.
The new scam sees them throw liquid onto tourists, before telling them they have bird poo on them.
As they offer to clean them up, they then steal their bank cards and wallets.
The arrested duo have been charged with six counts of theft and five of fraud after being caught at the resort of Benalmadena, according to .
Tourists are often targeted at the holiday resorts in Spain, with their purses and valuables being at risk.
The Foreign Office website warns Brits about the common ways holidaymakers are scammed.
The website states: "Most visits to Spain are trouble-free, but you should be alert to the existence of street crime, especially thieves using distraction techniques.
"Thieves often work in teams of two or more people and tend to target money and passports.
"Don’t carry all your valuables in one place, and remember to keep a photocopy or scanned copy of your passport somewhere safe."

It isn't the only Spanish scam Brits have been warned about, with another targeting holidaymakers before they travel.
A number of websites are charging tourists a "service fee" to help them fill in their mandatory Health Control Forms, according to with some asking for as much as €60.
