The 3 things you should always take on flights, according to doctors

THERE are a host of 'travel essentials' available to buy - with lotions, potions and products that promise to make your trip more enjoyable.

But it can be difficult to know which will actually be useful and which are a waste of money.

Some doctors have revealed the items they always take with them when they fly to give passengers an idea of the best products to use.

The first thing they swear by is pain relief tablets, which can be surprisingly difficult to get when you're abroad.

A surgeon told : "Medication such as Tylenol or Advil is an absolute must for me when travelling.

"You can never predict when a headache, migraine, or any minor injury will pop up and finding common over-the-counter medications can be harder than you'd expect, especially when travelling abroad."

The next product doctors recommend taking is compression socks, which while the not most attractive item, can be handy on a flight, especially if it is long-haul.

Ashley Lee, a podiatrist, always makes sure she has a pair with her when she travels.

She said: "This prevents any foot swelling that may occur when travelling for long hours with inactivity and little legroom, like on a flight."

The final item doctors recommend everyone packs in their luggage is, perhaps rather obviously, suncream.

Getting sunburnt is not only uncomfortable and sore, it can increase your chances of getting skin cancer, and suncream helps reduce that from happening.

Pediatrician Neela Sethi Young said: "Sun protection is non-negotiable for me, so I don't leave the house without my suncream.

"It's perfect to have on for any climate when I travel - whether I'm going to the beach or skiing."

Former flight attendants have revealed the essential item you should pack in your hand luggage.

Seasoned travellers have shared the cheap items to carry in your hand luggage that could transform the way you fly.

And this is the £1 item that flight attendants swear by when they go on holiday.
