Countries are classified as either green, amber, or red, depending on the state of the pandemic and rate of vaccinations.
Portugal has made the "green" list due to it having kept coronavirus cases low, with just a few hundred new daily cases.
The country most recently reported 373 daily Covid cases and has given 25.9 per cent of its population a first dose of the vaccine.
Brits who travel to "green" list countries will be able to return to England without quarantine restrictions but will require a pre-flight Covid test as well as a PCR test on day two of returning to the UK.
Brits that have been eagerly awaiting the travel announcement can find some great deals to Portugal:
- Easyjet Holidays 7-night Algarve holidays in June

May 17 is the start date for holidays abroad, as the Government continues to ease the lockdown restrictions and the Commons Transport Committee says the travel industry needs time to prepare.
Those countries that are on the "amber" list require a negative Covid test before arrival in the UK, plus two further tests once in the country and a ten-day quarantine at home.
Arrivals from "red" list countries would have to isolate at a quarantine hotel for 10 days, at a cost of £1,750.
