Can I travel to Spain? UK amber list rules and quarantine restrictions

BRITS who have been fully vaccinated can now travel to amber list destinations without having to quarantine on their return.

With most of Europe on the amber list, here is what you need to know about holidays to Spain.

Can I go on holiday to Spain?

Mainland Spain remains off the UK's green list, and is still on the amber list.

This means Brits will need the following when returning to the UK:

• A negative test taken pre-arrival
• A mandatory ten-day quarantine at home
• Two Covid tests, taken on day two and day eight

However, double vaxxed Brits can skip the quarantine but will still need to have negative Covid tests pre-arrival and on day two, with the new rules in place from July 19.

In a major boost for holidays the Balearic islands were added to the green list, meaning sun-starved Brits can jet off to Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca.

Popular holiday destinations such as Magaluf, have already started getting ready to welcome back Brits as flight prices to the sunny destinations tripled after the announcement.

What are the travel restrictions for Spain?

Spain introduced new rules last week which requires all Brits to be fully vaccinated or have a negative test to enter the country.

Spain was originally one of the few destinations which welcomed UK travellers with no restrictions, but has introduced them after Covid cases have risen in recent weeks.

The country is also reintroducing restrictions after cases have risen, especially on the Balearic Islands.

Catalonia, which includes Barcelona, is shutting nightclubs again while experts advise introducing mandatory tests to enter, or compulsory face masks.

Other regions have also paused their full reopening to slow down the new case rate.

More than 500 people have tested positive for Covid in just two days in the Balearics, putting holidays at risk.
