Channel Island holidays: Jersey & Guernsey breaks from £235pp as border restrictions are relaxed from April

THE CHANNEL ISLANDS are looking like a safe bet for Brits wanting to get away this year, as border restrictions for both Jersey and Guernsey are set to be relaxed.

Both Jersey and Guernsey have outlined plans to start lifting travel restrictions for UK visitors from next month.

The Channel island’s government announced that it is reintroducing its ‘Safer Travel Policy’, which aims to reconnect Jersey with other destinations in a series of phases.

In the first stage, red, amber, and green classifications for different parts of the UK will be reinstated from April 26, giving Brits a chance to visit Jersey once England's travel restrictions start to lift.

Guernsey has also also outlined its plans to gradually remove travel restrictions from the end of April, with a potential return to unrestricted travel to and from the island by early July.

The proposed dates for easing travel restrictions are not set in stone, however, and will depend on the vaccine rollout and the possible emergence of new Covid variants.

The Channel Island's 'Safer Travel Policy' will see the UK broken down by local regions, each of which will be given a classification of red, amber or green.

As a Jersey government statement explains: "From 26 April, anyone arriving in Jersey from the UK will have to provide their travel history in advance, through the online portal, and undertake PCR tests on arrival and on days 5 and 10 after arriving."

"Those entering the Island from green zones will have to isolate until they have a negative result from their arrival test."

"Those arriving from amber zones will have to isolate until they have received a Day 5 negative test result, and those arriving from red zones will need to isolate until they have a Day 10 negative test result."

Guernsey will also categorise countries and regions in a similar way from the end of April, meaning lighter travel restrictions for Brits arriving from regions with low infection rates.

Currently, holidays in England can go ahead at self-contained holiday lets from April 12, the Prime Minister has announced, so long as coronavirus rates continue to fall.

From May 17, groups of up to six people from different households or unlimited numbers of people from two households can share a holiday let together.
