New indoor water park to open in Derbyshire with slides, swim-up bar and floating lodges
A HUGE new indoor water park resort hopes to open in Derbyshire.
Amber Rock resort will feature swimming pools, rides and slides, as well as a range of accommodation.
This would include 148 lodges, seven of which are floating on the huge lake, 210 holiday apartments and an 116-bed hotel.
The two-level indoor water park would feature waterslides, a raft ride and lazy river as well as swim-up bar.
There will be both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.
It would also include climbing walls, zip lines, a bowling alley and sports haul.
Shops, cafes and restaurants would be on-site, as well as an over-water yoga studio and miniature golf.
The resort hopes to be constructed at a derelict former Derbyshire quarry, Crich Quarry.
The website said the resort hopes to "preserve the local environment and protect the community for years to come, ensuring the site will never be used for mineral extraction or future industrial use".
The resort will not just be an all-year resort, but will also offer day trips and events to local destinations: "Plus, a unique mix of leisure activities suitable all year round, making it a destination with the community at its heart and somewhere to create unforgettable memories.
“Amber Rock’s diverse facilities will actively encourage longer stays to reduce the number of day trips, while specific check-in/check-out times will be applied to reduce effects of peak traffic flow.
"We’ll also arrange various shuttle buses to transport guests to local attractions."
Ticket prices and opening dates are yet to be revealed, with the plans still waiting to be accepted.
