Travel by car if you can as the hotel is tucked away up plenty of windy roads.

A stunning converted textile mill, the hotel features original brickwork, high ceilings and lots of modern, airy glass. Inside, the reception is scented by candles and beyond there's a pool, outdoor hot tub, relaxation room, heat and ice experiences, gym, restaurant and bar. The owners have invested £1.5million into making it an "eco-spa", so everything is carbon-neutral and has its own natural water source. 3. What to do at the Titanic Spa? With spa in its very name, it's no surprise that people come for the impressive treatments. There are 20 rooms offering everything from pregnancy treatments and massages to exfoliating, detox and body therapies. It is great value for what you get and very down to earth. The thing I really love about this place is that you can have a spa experience and a drink with your friends without snooty types looking down on you.

I had the amazing pork belly with a haggis croquette and purees of neeps and sweet potato, which tasted as good as it sounds. If you're a cocktail person, definitely make sure to pop into the modern and comfortable Bar 1911 which serves brilliant tipples. 5. What are the rooms like at the Titanic Spa?
