Brits can get coronavirus tests at Heathrow hotel the night before they go on holiday – for £179 including accommodation
HOLIDAYMAKERS will be able to get a coronavirus test before their holiday when staying at a hotel at Heathrow, thanks to a new scheme.
The package deal will initially be launched at the Sofitel London Heathrow hotel at Terminal 5.
Launched by The Arora Group, one of the UK’s leading hotel owner-operators and HALO, a UK-based biotech firm, the package "Test and Rest" deals will include an overnight stay and a coronavirus test.
Guests will be able to book the hotel stay and be given a self-administered saliva PCR test which will give a result after it is sent off to a HALO facility.
Using the Halo app, guests will be sent their test result, along with a certificate showing the negative result which will allow them to travel.
Prices will start from £179 - a bargain when private travel tests can cost upwards of £200 - and includes the hotel overnight stay.
The deal will also be offered at other Heathrow hotels in the near future.
Surinder Arora, Founder and CEO of Arora Group said they launched to deal to give people "confidence to travel".
They continued: "The ability to stay in a hotel the night before a flight and get a recognised PCR saliva based COVID-19 test and subsequent result before the flight the following day – just made sense."
Rapid one-hour Covid tests for holidaymakers have launched at Heathrow Airport for £80.
The system has initially been brought in for people flying to Hong Kong with plans for Italy as well, which permits quick pre-flight tests as evidence the traveller is free from Covid-19.
Some countries such as Cyprus require a negative coronavirus test from British travellers, taken up to 72 hours before travel.
However, tests for travel purposes cannot be done on the NHS, which are only for people with symptoms.
Here is everything you need to know about getting a negative coronavirus test before going on holiday.
