TUI launch 2 MILLION seats for summer 2020 including to Spain and Florida following Thomas Cook collapse
TUI has added an extra two million seats to their summer 2020 schedule following the collapse of Thomas Cook.
The in-house airline TUI Airways flights will include popular holiday destinations previously covered by the holiday provider which went under last month.
The new seats will most likely fill the gap left by Thomas Cook which left 150,000 Brits stranded abroad.
will launch from 13 regional airports across the UK including London Stansted, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
Manchester Airport faces the biggest growth with another 440,000 seats available next year.
Destinations include Spain, Greece, Egypt, Mexico and Florida.
TUI will also be offering more seven night, 10 night and 14 night holiday packages to the popular holiday locations.
The tour operator added that not only will it open up hundreds of jobs, but they would offer positions to former Thomas Cook staff, with TUI Airways managing director Dawn Wilson adding they would be looking for "over 50 Thomas Cook captains" to join.
The airline could also introduce new flights and package deals to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt following the end of the four-year flight ban announced earlier today.
A TUI spokesperson told : "We will reintroduce Sharm el-Sheikh, taking into account customer demand, and will now work closely with our hotel and airport partners so we can confirm more details in due course."
