Call of Duty joins XCloud as three games from the series are announced for Xbox streaming

MICROSOFT purchased Call of Duty publisher Activision for a whopping $69billion in one of the gaming industry’s biggest ever deals.

Xbox signed several deals promising feature-complete ports of the Call of Duty games to other platforms.

However, Xbox is now offering its players more ways to enjoy Call of Duty on their consoles.

Recently, there have been rumours that Xbox will introduce a new feature to allow you to stream games you already own.

Currently, streaming is reserved for specific games in the Game Pass library, but Xbox soon might allow you to stream even the games you own rather than downloading them to your console.

It appears that Microsoft could be beginning to test this capability starting with the Call of Duty series.

Xbox has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, will be streamable via Xbox Cloud Gaming starting on October 25.

This is the same day that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will launch on all platforms.

Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare 3 had already been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass, and MW3 joined the service back in July.

Xbox Cloud Gaming requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription in order to use it, so the addition of these two games is not new to Xbox.

However, Warzone is a free-to-play version of Call of Duty’s multiplayer, though other free-to-play games like Fortnite are available on XCloud too.

The addition of these three Call of Duty games doesn’t prove that XCloud will be available for purchased games, but Xbox is certainly expanding cloud streaming to more games.

Xbox recently announced that people will soon be able to purchase and stream games via the Xbox app on Android.

The announcement comes after a recent US court ruling required Google to open the Android marketplace to competitors.

However, the streaming via the Xbox app likely refers to streaming owned games via remote play and not from XCloud.

Still it appears that Xbox is increasing the support for streaming, and this could mean the rumoured XCloud features.
