Sky now guarantees ‘fast’ WiFi speeds EVERYWHERE in your home – but it’ll cost you an extra £5 a month

SKY is guaranteeing broadband customers "fast and reliable WiFi" across the home.

The catch is that the new WiFi Guarantee is only available for customers on the new Boost plan – which costs £5 extra a month.

Boost is a brand new package aimed at those with dodgy home WiFi.

Routers can often struggle to get good WiFi signal to certain areas of your home – hampered by thick walls, signal-blocking materials, and sheer distance.

So even if you pay for a fancy package, your living room router might struggle to dish out top speeds around the entire property.

Sky Boost includes a brand new router, and a guarantee that your internet will be top notch from now on.

Sky will check your broadband speeds every day, and send you a text if anything needs fixing

You'll also get access to engineer visits at no extra cost – including on evenings and weekends.

There's also a new Sky Broadband Hub included in the package.

It's armed with eight antennas and is designed to provide better WiFi coverage across different rooms and floors.

"The need for fast and reliable broadband that reaches every room is more important than ever before," said Sky's Aman Bhatti.

"But as you can't physically see your WiFi signal, it can be difficult for most people to understand what makes it stronger or weaker.

"Our WiFi Guarantee, combined with the new Sky Hub, genuinely guarantees a strong signal in every room of the house.

"Strong enough to stream movies and TV from Sky Go and Netflix – or your money back."

Sky isn't alone in offering a broadband-boosting service for people with poor signal in large homes.

BT recently launched a similar service called Complete WiFi – also charged at £5 a month.

It's basically a system of smart "discs" that you place around your house – significantly boosting your internet connection.

The BT Complete WiFi plan gives you discs that work like WiFi extenders, bouncing signal around your home.

But it'll be treated like one signal network, so you won't need multiple passwords and you won't constantly be signing into new routers.

"In a four bedroom house, we would expect to see WiFi speeds improving by about 25%, on average," said BT's Pete Oliver earlier this year.

You're also covered by a guarantee if you don't see results.

"If we can’t get it to work, we give you a £20 compensation and cancel the contract for you," Oliver told The Sun.

The main downside to all of this is that the minimum speed guaranteed is 3Mbps.

That's not particularly fast, and certainly isn't enough for HD or 4K streaming.

But if you've got particularly bad WiFi signal then a guaranteed 3Mbps might be helpful.

The other catch is that you won't get a full refund on the price of your contract if you don't hit the guaranteed speeds.

Instead, you'll be funded the £5-a-month Boost fee for the remainder of your contract.

Sky recently revealed its next-gen Ultrafast internet packages that promises 12 times faster internet speeds.

In related news, Sky recently launched the Sky Buddy app to track and control your family's gadgets from anywhere.

Sky Mobile recently announced a new Watch service that lets you stream unlimited Sky telly without using any data.
