Amazon’s £4 ‘personal shopper’ subscription sends you new clothes in the post every month – and you only pay for what you like
AMAZON has just launched a personal shopping women's fashion service for Prime customers.
The service is called Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe and will send out monthly clothing boxes specially curated for each individual customer and their unique style.
The service costs $4.99 (£4) a month and is currently only available in the US but experts say that it could come to the UK soon.
Prime customers who sign up to the service will need to complete a survey so an Amazon styling team can determine things like their budget, clothing preferences and measurements.
It is currently only women's fashion that will be available but a men's fashion version will be launching soon.
Thousands of brands are available via Personal Shopper including popular labels like Calvin Klein and Adidas.
Customers can only access the service via the Amazon Shopping App.
Subscribers will receive a preview notification each month, which will show them a selection of clothes that the styling team has picked out.
They can then pick up to eight items to be shipped to them and will have a seven day trial period to try on the items.
If the clothes are not returned within the seven day trial period then customers will automatically be charged for all the items they had shipped to them.
Amazon urges customers not to worry about this though as they will send out lots of reminder notifications.
There is no word yet on when the service could be coming to the UK but we have reached out to Amazon for comment.
Tech analyst Paolo Pescatore told The Sun: "It all depends how successful the service will be in the States. For now the service is quite limited.
"Therefore it feels like Amazon is testing the waters. On this basis it is unlikely to be available in the UK this year."
Chief of research at CCS Insight Ben Wood told us: "Amazon is always ready to experiment with new services to get its customers even more engaged and a personal shopper service is a logical next step given the growing popularity of wardrobe subscription boxes.
"It will be interesting to see how it develops and if successful I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before it is offered to UK Prime customers.”
