Apple Watch 5 series may come with creepy hidden camera that can snap pics on the sly
APPLE is trying to find a way to build a camera into the Apple Watch, according to a new patent.
The newly discovered design drawings show an Apple Watch strap with a camera attached, which can be extended and manoeuvred to get the right angle for the watch wearer.
Tech website uncovered the patent, which discusses how the tech giant proposes to overcome the issues that would arise from simply placing the camera inside the Apple Watch display.
The Apple patent explains: "A potential barrier to smartwatch adoption is their minimal image-capturing ability.
"Some embodiments described herein include a smartwatch with the functionality of a camera that is independently positionable relative to a watch body.
"This can allow the smartwatch to capture images and video at angles and orientations that do not depend directly on the angle and orientation of the rest of the smartwatch, including the watch body."
This Apple Watch camera design includes both a front facing and back facing camera that would be capable of filming 360-degree videos.
There might be several different ways a user could take a photo, including a button in the band and on the watch face.
The goal of the smartwatch camera appears to be that it would allow users to travel places without their iPhones and still take photos.
Current Apple Watches can act as a camera trigger for the iPhone but some people think that the smart watch getting its own photo taking capabilities could make the iPhone obsolete.
As with all patents, there is no guarantee that this Apple Watch design will be brought to life but for now it is quite a cool concept.
Apple files for lots of patents each year but only makes a fraction of these ideas.
In other news, Apple could be releasing a new pricey version of the MacBook Pro in September.
