Keanu Reeves sends gamers into meltdown as he reveals he’s starring in Cyberpunk 2077

CYBERPUNK 2077 is coming out in April 2020, and is going to feature a performance from Keanu Reeves.

The game was already set to be a massive hit before the Bill & Ted star took to the stage at E3 in Los Angeles, and his involvement is likely to propel it even further.

Cyberpunk is set in a near-future word where body modification has taken over society and the world appears to be controlled by a mixture of bloodthirsty corporations and ruthless criminal gangs.

The latest trailer for the game, featuring the Matrix star, sees his character invite the player to burn Night City, where the game's action takes place, to the ground.

He appeared during Microsoft's briefing before the show kicks off, where the firm revealed its next console would be out in time for Christmas next year.

He will be playing Johnny Silverhand, a "legendary rockerboy" who is a "key character" in the game.

As well as lending his voice and likeness to the game, developers CD Projekt Red revealed he also provided full-body motion capture for the role to boot.

As well as a trailer showcasing his own character, the goatee-sporting actor also revealed that the game, first revealed to the world 12 months ago, would be coming out on April 16, 2020.

So far the game has been confirmed for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Fans attending the briefing were shocked as the Matrix star appeared from a cloud of smoke to make his revelations, with one shouting how he was "breathtaking".

Reeves responded by telling the heckler he was the breathtaking one - before receiving rapturous cheers when he declared that the entire assembled throng was, in fact, breathtaking.

Those watching online were equally pleased by his appearance, with memes

Microsoft's briefing also revealed a new Lego Star Wars game, telling the story of all nine films in the main series.

Elsewhere around E3, EA has revealed more details of its new Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and has admitted that it's not going to be bringing the real Fifa 20 for Nintendo Switch.

Much more gaming news is expected over the coming days.

Monday brings briefings from Nintendo, Ubisoft, Square Enix and more before the show kicks off in earnest.
