FLIPPING HELL

Fortnite 9.20 patch notes reveal Storm Flip and bring lots of leaked skins

FORTNITE'S latest patch brings with it a new item that turns the game on its head - the Storm Flip.

It's a throwable bottle that looks like a lightning-fuelled Molotov cocktail, and it could cause chaos.

Fortnite's Battle Royale is defined by the storm - it damages every player it touches, starts outside the island, and gradually shrinks forcing everyone together until only one person survives.

The Storm Flip does what the name suggests - it flips the storm, though only in a limited area.

When it explodes it changes things in a sphere-shaped zone - it makes stormy areas safe, and safe ones stormy.

The damage done by any storms you create will be exactly the same as the main storm at that moment in time, which increases as the game goes on.

The reversal only lasts for 20 seconds - but at the end of a tense match that's more than enough to turn the tide in a tight spot.

Outside of that the Hunting Rifle has been vaulted and the Boom Bow has been weakened -- it now takes 25 per cent longer to charge up your shots.

The Sword Fight Limited Time Mode is also coming back, complete with the controversial Infinity Blade.

You won't find it on Polar Peak this time though - the powerful weapon will spawn randomly from chests.

You can read about these changes in more detail, and about all the other changes, over on the Fortnite .

This was also a busy week for Fortnite's data miners.

11 new skins have been revealed, as rounded up , including a weird-looking trooper called Breakpoint who brings to mind Spider-Man's Mr Negative.

Airhead is a weird scarecrow-type thing with a balloon for a head that's just creeping us out - but the adorable Plastic Patroller and Toy Trooper make up for it.

Callisto brings a decidedly cybergoth flair to proceedings with neon pink spiky bracelets and batwing speakers on her head.

Relay, Desert Dominator and Shot Caller add to the pile of generic vaguely-military types you'll be able to choose from, while Bolt and Wonder at least add some colour to proceedings.

Fortnite fans have something else to look forward to this week too -- a limited-edition Purple Fortnite Xbox that will be on sale from tomorrow, likely down to £199.

Meanwhile, the E3 festivities kick off in Los Angeles this Saturday, with Microsoft's briefing on Sunday expected to bring news of the Xbox 2 and their latest in cloud gaming technology.

Sony aren't attending this year, however, so don't hold your breath for PS5 updates.

Sun Gaming will be at the show, to stay tuned for more news as it breaks.
