Gears 5 release date ‘leaks’ alongside box art for upcoming Xbox One exclusive

GEARS 5 could be here as early as September, according to an Xbox news site that spotted a listing showing the game had been rated in Taiwan.
The listing showed what looks like the official box art for Gears 5, with new protagonist Kait Diaz front and centre, flanked by series' hero Marcus Fenix and Locust queen Myrrah.
Spanish news site Generación Xbox, , claim that it originally listed a September 10 release date alongside the box art and other pertinent information.
The listing has now been changed so that it shows the game's teaser art with a European rating in place of the more complete-looking American boxart.
It also no longer lists a date, with both Chinese-language and English-language pages saying the release date is 'unlisted'.
The Chinese-language screenshot provided by Generación Xbox also has the release date labelled as unlisted, but it is possible that information was gleaned from elsewhere.
Officially, the fifth main entry in the Gears of War franchise, officially just called Gears 5, has no official release date.
Keep your eyes open, though -- we're sure there will be more information around E3 2019.
Gears is one of the biggest series Microsoft has and the game will launch exclusively for Xbox One and Windows 10.
The highly-anticipated game was confirmed at Microsoft's 2018 E3 press briefing but little has been heard about it since.
In February 2019 it was reported to be "" by the clearly unbiased Xbox chief Phil Spencer.
Gears 5 is the second part of a new trilogy that began with 2016's Gears of War 4 and will actually serve as the sixth game in the series, including Xbox 360's Judgement.
25 years after the culmination of Marcus' journey in the original trilogy, the deadly Locust have been replaced with a new enemy, The Swarm.
The Swarm is an evolution of the Locust, and the game will follow Kait as she breaks command to take her squad on a decidedly personal mission related to her "family ties" to the Locust.
Myrrah, shown in the box art, was the queen of the Locust but was killed in Gears of War 3, so while her presence makes sense given the Locust connection, it does also raise some serious questions.

Also expected out this Autumn is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, likely to be the biggest Call of Duty game yet given fan's clamouring for a new Modern Warfare game.
Given the late October / early November release window for Call of Duty titles, it would certainly make sense for Microsoft to try and get out in front to maximise sales.
