But Netflix has revealed that it won't be one of the movie apps available on Apple's as-yet-unnamed telly services.

"We prefer to let our customers watch our content on our service," Netflix boss Reed Hastings told .

"We have chosen not to integrate with their service."

The company also confirmed that none of its original TV shows or movies will be available through the new Apple TV subscription app.

Apple is set to host a major press event on March 25, 2019, where the TV streaming service will be unveiled.

The service will host original Apple content, and is likely to be a major rival to Netflix and Amazon Video.

That explains why Netflix has probably declined to sign up to Apple's latest wheeze.

That said, Hastings admitted that he's generally excited about the prospect of Apple becoming a rival.

"These are amazing, large, well-funded companies with very significant efforts," Hastings said.

"They are going to do some great shows. I’m going to be envious. They’re going to come up with some great ideas. We’re going to want to borrow those."

"We will make this a better industry if we have great competitors."

He added that Netflix would try "not [to] get too distracted" by rivals, but would still "learn lessons" from them.

Apple has already signed deals with top talent like Oprah Winfrey (on a multi-year contract), Reese Witherspoon, Chris Evans, Steve Carrell, Jennifer Garner and M. Night Shyamalan.

And Apple is reportedly preparing to resell subscriptions from entertainment giants like CBS, Viacom and Starz.

Top analyst Dan Ives, of Wedbush Securities, told The Sun that the service will "likely officially launch in the [autumn]", giving Apple more time to secure original content.

And he previously told us that Apple's streaming service would be "price competitive, or cheaper than Netflix's monthly service".

Apple has paid out £92billion to app makers as iPhone "virtual spending" skyrockets.

The tech giant might be working on a brand new 2019 MacBook Pro with a 16-inch screen.

And Apple has been launching tech products like there's no tomorrow, with this week seeing in the iPad mini 5 and iPad Air 3, some new iMac computers, and the long-awaited Apple AirPods 2.
