Call of Duty mobile finally revealed – and it’s going to be FREE

ACTIVISION has just revealed the first Western trailer for Call of Duty Mobile, and that the Tencent-developed game will be released outside of China.

It's being made by developers at Chinese mega-publisher Tencent's in-house studio, and had previously only been confirmed for release in their home country.

The gameplay and graphics look roughly on a par with the PS3 and Xbox 360

The game is going to be free-to-play, and has now been confirmed for release in North America, South America and Europe.

We don't know much beyond what is revealed in the trailer, which looks like it leans very heavily on assets and gameplay from Call of Duty: Black Ops IV, the most recent iteration in the franchise.

It's going to be focused on competitive multiplayer matches, but the trailer hinted at some sort of co-op  story mode with the inclusion of Cerberus, who featured in Black Ops' co-op Zombies mode.

The trailer also shows off a bunch of fan-favourite multiplayer maps from earlier hits in the series too, including Nuketown and Crash.

A release date for the game is yet to be revealed

It closed with the suggestion that Black Ops' battle royale mode Blackout was going to be coming to the game too.

Tencent and Activision had previously collaborated on Call of Duty Online, which was for PCs but was never released in Europe or the US.

Call of Duty Mobile doesn't have a release date yet -- but given the heavy lean into Black Ops IV, it seems likely it will be here before the main 2019 iteration for consoles and PC.

That is thought to be Modern Warfare 4 -- and looks to be eschewing both battle royale and specialists for a more traditional CoD experience.
