MICROSOFT are planning an E3 that is "as big as it's ever been" for Xbox, even though rivals Sony confirmed last year they weren't even planning to show up next year.
Sony revealed in November that they weren't going to be at next year's gaming jamboree, and as a result Microsoft had discussed "saving some money" and scaling down their presence in the absence of competition to beat.
In the end, though, Phil Spencer, head of video games at Microsoft and de facto Xbox chief, claims the firm decided that "we're going to do our thing and we're going to go and be as big at E3 as we've ever been."
, Xbox Live's director of programming, Spencer revealed he's planning to use the show to discuss the future for Xbox and be "as transparent as can be" about what's coming up.
This could include a new Xbox-brand streaming box, news about the Xbox Two devices, as well as more information on their plans to let you stream and play Xbox games on ANY device you want.
Talking about streaming Spencer admitted it would be "years before this is the primary way people are playing", but also admits that internally the company's Game Pass service is referred to
"as the Netflix for games".
Talking about the potential for Xbox Two revelations, Spencer said there are still "discussions" ongoing about "how much long-term and how much near-term" games are being talked about.
He revealed that he has already looked at the next projects which are coming from British studios Rare and Playground, but didn't offer any hints as to what those might be.
Rare are currently developing on-going content for Sea of Thieves, while Playground are , having recently shipped Forza Horizon 4.
