LG HomeBrew beer machine lets you make FIVE LITRES of booze at home just by adding capsules
Finally, a tech company has solved a genuinely important problem...
BEER now has its own version of the coffee machine: the LG HomeBrew.
This wacky gadget brews craft beer in your kitchen by chewing up single-use capsules, which contain the ingredients needed for the perfect pint.
Craft beer is hugely popular these days, but not everyone has the time or will to actually brew booze at home.
But just as the humble coffee machine gave hope to wannabe baristas, a beer machine can now help you pull pints at home.
Announced at this week's CES 2019 tech show in Las Vegas, LG announced the capsule-based HomeBrew.
Each capsule contains malt, yeast, hop oil and flavouring, which the machine then uses to ferment, carbonate, age and serve beer automatically.
With a press of a button – and a two-week wait – you'll get up to five litres of beer to enjoy, all produced in your kitchen.
The machine manages temperature controls, and lets you check up on the brewing progress using a smartphone app.
To create the pods, LG teamed up with small British brewing company Muntons, which has been creating beer for nearly 100 years.
There are five brews on offer for now:
- Hoppy American IPA
- Golden American Pale Ale
- Full-bodied English Stout
- Zesty Belgian-style Witbier
- Dry Czech Pilsner
"LG HomeBrew is the culmination of years of home appliance and water purification technologies that we have developed over the decades," said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG's Home Appliance division.
"Homebrewing has grown at an explosive pace but there are still many beer lovers who haven't take the jump because of the barrier to entry.
"These are the consumers we. think will be attracted to LG HomeBrew."

Once you're done brewing, the HomeBrew will automatically sanitise itself so that you can get on preparing your next batch.
The bad news is that there's no release date or price for the gadget for now – so don't swear off the pub just yet.
