BT reveals Complete WiFi ‘disc’ that makes your internet 25% FASTER – and only costs a fiver

There's now an easy way to significantly upgrade your home WiFi

BT Connected Home

STRUGGLE to get good internet in certain rooms? BT has come up with a genius solution to solve your WiFi woes.

It's called Complete WiFi, and it's basically a system of smart "discs" that you place around your house – significantly boosting your internet connection.

What is BT Complete WiFi?

It's part of a new broadband plan that launched today, and aims to snuff out WiFi dead-spots.

Routers can often struggle to get good WiFi signal to certain areas of your room – hampered by thick walls, signal-blocking materials, and sheer distance.

The BT Complete WiFi plan gives you discs that work like WiFi extenders, bouncing signal around your home.

But it'll be treated like one signal network, so you won't need multiple passwords and you won't constantly be signing into new routers.

"No more dead-spots. It's the world's first guarantee from a broadband company that you will get fast and reliable WiFi in every room of your home," said BT's Pete Oliver.

It should mean that you get a stronger signal in the farthest reaches of your house.

But it also means your WiFi will be "faster in every room", according to Oliver.

"In a four bedroom house, we would expect to see WiFi speeds improving by about 25%, on average," he said.

You're also covered by a guarantee if you don't see results.

"If we can’t get it to work, we give you a £20 compensation and cancel the contract for you," Oliver told The Sun.

Why is your WiFi under so much pressure?

Here's what you need to know...

It's partly in response to the huge spike in the number of connected gadgets in every home.

Back in 2008, the average UK home had just three connected devices.

That's risen to 10 devices per home in 2018.

And BT reckons that by 2023, every UK home will have an average of 50 connected devices – from smartphones and tablets, to smart speakers and WiFi-enabled lightbulbs.

But there's also been a big increase in the amount of data people are gobbling up.

"We’ve seen demand double every year, for the last ten to fifteen years," BT's Pete Oliver told The Sun.

"Originally it was driven by adoption of video services, but now it’s things like iOS updates, big downloads," he said.
"We had a Fortnite update a few weeks ago that was one of the biggest downloads on the network."

And according to BT's new Modern Families report, 7.9 million Brits have argued with others in the house about WiFi, and 43% of people believe poor WiFi restricts life at home.

How to get BT Complete WiFi

Initially, the service will only be available to customers on a BT Plus subscription.

This combines a fibre broadband package with a 4G mobile internet plan.

For new customers, BT says that the cheapest plan including Complete WiFi costs £59.99 a month.

This will get you the new BT Smart Hub 2 router, as well as a WiFi disc.

If one WiFi disc doesn't get the job done, BT will cough up an additional two discs to improve your home WiFi.

That means you can end up with a router and three WiFi discs, which should be plenty.

There's also a video calling support service that involves a BT specialist helping you place the WiFi discs.

And BT has also created an app that guides you on how to place the discs, testing your signal strength along the way.

BT Complete WiFi is available starting from today – .
