Your Instagram is about to look COMPLETELY different – check out the changes here
The social network is experimenting with new layouts, which will see communication buttons shifted to the top of profile pages, and follower numbers given less visibility
INSTAGRAM is revamping the way it lays out user profiles, with the social networking app shifting buttons and icons around in order to help users "better express" themselves.
The changes are in a testing phase and so may not be permanent, but they include putting "Follow" and "Message" buttons near the top of profiles and placing profile pics in the top-right corner.
Instagram has seen more than its fair share of changes recently, including the introduction of a feature that lets you monitor how much time you spend on the network, as well as an update that will reportedly kill off fake likes and followers.
Well, this latest change isn't quite as big, but it may make subtle differences to how users experience the Instagram app.
It sees usernames pushed right up to the top of the page and displayed in a larger font, while the number of posts users have made won't be visible.
In addition, the changes also see a range of buttons – "Message," "Follow," "Email" and "Call" – also pushed closer to the top, potentially helping users communicate more easily with each other.
"Over the next several weeks, you may see features re-arranged at the top of your profile including changes to icons, buttons and the way you navigate between tabs, which we hope will make profiles easier and cleaner to use," it says in a .
Instagram notes that the changes it's rolling out won't alter (or remove) any pics or videos users have uploaded to the site.
But it also states that its new changes are only being tested at this stage, and that it will "update the experience" as it learns from user feedback.
As such, you may not want to get too attached to rearranged buttons, tabs and pics, just in case Instagram decides to revert back to it previous layout.
