This WhatsApp cheat gives you new features on iPhone before EVERYONE else
There's an easy way to get the latest WhatsApp updates before they're available to the general public
WANT the latest WhatsApp features before your mates? There's an easy way to do it.
All you need to do is sign up to the iPhone beta, which finally became available to the public for the first time today.
The beta version of the app is how WhatsApp tests new features – before sending them live to the world.
This lets WhatsApp check how popular new features are, and whether there are any bugs or issues.
You've been able to use WhatsApp beta on Android and Windows smartphones for a while, but access to the iPhone version has been strictly limited.
Now it's finally available (as spotted by ), and we've got all the details on how to sign up.
Then you'll need to download the WhatsApp beta app.
If you get a message saying that the "beta is full", it means there's no space for additional testers.
But don't let that put you off: developers can open up new spaces for the beta at any time.
Also, people will often drop out of the beta so they can return to the normal app.
This will free up spaces for you to jump in and get testing on your own phone.
We'd advise checking back regularly, at least daily if you're a committed WhatsApp user.
It's also important to note that developers won't be snooping on your messages as part of the testing process.
Almost nothing you do will be visible to them, other than a few very minor details.
Your actual messages will remain end-to-end encrypted, as always.
"When you accept a TestFlight invitation through a public link, your name and email address are not visible to the developer," Apple explains.
"However, they'll be able to see your number of sessions and crashes, and the day you installed their app."
Each WhatsApp beta "build" (or version, basically) is only available to test for up to 90 days from when it was first uploaded.
You can see how many days you've got left under the app name in TestFlight.
Once that time period is up, you'll be booted off the beta test app.
The good news is that TestFlight notifies you when new builds are available, so you can jump straight into the latest build whenever you like.
