YOUTUBE is back up and running after an error caused an outage for users around the world.
Those trying to access the video streaming site were met with error messages for more than an hour.
On the desktop version users could see the website’s template, but no videos were being shown.
The issue was reported by people in the United States, South America, and Europe.
The Google-owned site went offline in the early hours of this morning, with millions around the world unable to access content.
Users vented their frustration at the outage as the company tweeted: "Thanks for your reports about YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music access issues."
They added: "We're working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated."
The site later confirmed: "We're back! Thanks for all of your patience. If you continue to experience issues, please let us know."
On Twitter one person wrote: "YouTube has the audacity to be down when I'm trying to procrastinate and ignore my problems."
Another added: "When YouTube is down and you actually have to go to bed now."
Earlier this month Instagram went down after a mystery outage.
The popular image-sharing app received thousands of complaints from users who couldn't get the News Feed to refresh or the desktop website to load.
There were also two big outages in June, and a third in July, although one of those only affected Android users.
