Fortnite squad smashes ‘kills’ world record – have you come anywhere close to this?

The Australian team achieved 61 eliminations in a single round of Battle Royale

A FORTNITE squad has broken the world record for the number of 'kills' in a single game of Fortnite, achieving a grand total of 61.

The Australian-based team of four broke the previous record of 59 by completing a run that began in Tilted Towers and ended near Tomato Temple.

The team were playing Fortnite: Battle Royale on PlayStation 4, although their tally of 61 eliminations is the highest recorded on any gaming platform.

As impressive as their total is, some members of the squad enjoyed more impressive showings than others.

Fortitude_Fqrbes and Nexjs had 25 and 18 'kills' each, while tactjc- and TTV_NadeXC contributed ten and eight 'kills', respectively.

These totals were enough for the squad to win the Battle Royale they were playing, with them being the last players standing out of an initial 97.

the record before that, which was 55.

And seeing as how up to 100 players can participate in a Battle Royale, there's still some way to go before a new world record can no longer be set.

As for the record for a single player, the current maximum is 48, although this record sparked controversy when it was set in June by Elemental_Ray.

The total was reached after the player sneakily destroyed one of the towers other players had built to watch a one-off rocket-launch event.

This caused the players on the tower to fall to the ground and instantly 'die' on impact, with Elemental_Ray being credited for their eliminations.
