Twitter is about to delete a major feature from your iPhone

It's removing the ability to create Moments from its iOS and Android apps

The ability will be removed on October 23, although users will still be able to create Moments on the desktop version of the social network.

Moments are strings of tweets that Twitter users can put together, generally on a single theme, story or event.

Twitter had been promoting them as a way for users to 'keep up to date' with what's going on in the world and on the social network.

However, in a  on Tuesday, the company explained that it was cutting the ability to create Moments on its mobile app due to low usage.

"When features aren't used as often," the Twitter Support account tweeted, "we’ll remove them, so we can focus on building other products you’ll love."

in the three months to the end of June, it also reported a worldwide loss of one million monthly users over the same period.

This decline comes as the social network has tried to clamp down on bots and trolls, with Twitter conducting a massive cull of fake and automated accounts in early July.

The decline also comes as the social network experiments with a variety of ways of enhancing its overall user experience, such as June's of personalised news and event notifications.

However, in line with its of removing support for those features that aren't popular, it no longer seems that Moments on iOS and Android will play much of a role in this drive to improve Twitter.
