DYSON has launched the £400 Airwrap, a hair styler that curls your locks without using "extreme heat".
The Dyson Airwrap promises to use high-speed jets of air that let you achieve full-bodied curls and sleek blow-dry finishes – but avoids the kind of hair damage that comes from high temperatures.
Starting at a whopping £399.99, the Dyson Airwrap comes in three different packages that vary according to the hair and desired styles of the user.
The styler itself is powered by Dyson's V9 digital motor, creator high air pressure at the top of the barrel.
This forces "high velocity" jets of air out from six slots around the styler.
Dyson says this creates a phenomenon known as the "Coanda effect", encouraging the hair to curl around the barrel.
Stylish brushes take advantage of this, aligning hair during the styling process to create a "smooth shiny finish" when dry.
Engineers worked to keep the airflow focused in the desired styling direction.
This involves a switching mechanism that directs airflow according to tension in the brush.
In practice, it means that the air flows will follow the direction of your hair, no matter which way you're brushing through the stands.
You can use the styler in wet and dry conditions, and can try different attachments for the desired look.
The big advantage of Dyson's new kit is that it protects your hair from heat.
One of the biggest risks of styling your hair is causing heat damage.
But Dyson's styler is fitted with intelligent heat control that attempts to prevent this.
It measures the temperature up to 40 times a second, and uses this information to regulate the styler's heat levels.
Dyson says this helps "ensure hair does not become exposed to extreme heat".
"We have been obsessively manipulating airflow for more than 25 years," said chairman James Dyson.
"It is one of our core areas of expertise.
"Harnessing the power of Dyson's digital motor we have engineered a unique styling tool which prevents extreme heat damage when styling.
"I'm immensely proud of what our engineers have achieved."
The Dyson Airwrap will be available from October 10 in three different variants.
There's a version for limp, flat hair that costs £399.99, or a model for smooth frizz-prone hair that costs the same price.
Alternatively, you can pick up an advanced model that comes with all of the different attachments for £449.99 – suiting any type of hair.
