BORDERLANDS 2 has been converted into a fully-playable VR game -- and you'll be able to play it in December.

As part of the celebrations of the second anniversary of the PlayStation VR headset PSVR, Sony announced today that the Gearbox-developed cel-shaded over-the-top shooter would be coming to the platform on December 14.

The first-person shooter, first released back in 2012, is getting a few tweaks to make it compatible with Virtual Reality systems, but you will get the entire game as part of the package.

The headlining new feature is a bullet-time like Bad Ass Mega Fun Time feature, which makes up for the lack of co-op companions in the game's harder battles.

It will let the player slow down time so they can dodge attacks or deliver a ridiculous flurry of fatal attacks using either a normal PlayStation 4 controller or a pair of PS Move controllers.

The game's four original playable characters return, with a modified set of skills to let you take advantage of BAMF Time.

Vehicle control, which switched to third person for the regular version of the game, will now be first-person too. You can steer with whichever controller you happen to have chosen, but you'll aim by just looking at your target with the VR headset so you can keep on speeding in one direction while shooting in another.

The VR port has been in the works for a couple of years, according to Gearbox.

"As soon as we brought the game to PS4 as part of The Handsome Collection in 2016," Gearbox , "our brains immediately began cranking on how we could bring the experience to VR and take advantage of PS VR’s capabilities.

"We all have spent years immersed in the world and these characters, so we were excited to utilize the PS VR to bring everyone in even deeper."

Sony also revealed that the sublime Tetris Effect, which is out on November 9, with a heap of pre-order goodies including a dynamic theme, avatars, and a 7-track soundtrack sampler.
