Telltale’s The Walking Dead game to FINALLY be completed by Skybound
Celebrating the news on Twitter, one gamer wrote: "This is one of the ten happiest moments of my life"
THE creator of The Walking Dead has revealed the show's hit video game WILL be concluded following weeks of behind the scenes turmoil that had fans fearing its cancellation.
Robert Kirkman yesterday announced a deal had been made between game developers Telltale and Skybound to "wrap up" The Walking Dead: The Final Season.
The announcement comes after Telltale Games suddenly axed all but 25 of its staff last month, with further staff getting the boot as the studio struggled.
Gamers feared they would never find out how the story of main character Clementine would end if the developer went under.
But putting their minds to rest at a panel event in New York Comic Con 2018, Kirman said: "Come on, we couldn't lose Rick AND Clem in one year!"
Skybound Games, owned by Kirkman, confirmed it would finish off the story with a final game.
In a statement on Twitter, the company announced: "We're so happy to announce that we've reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season!
"Let's wrap up Clem's story right! More details to come soon."
According to Variety, Skybound Games hopes to work with members of the original Telltale team to finish the story, although "nothing has yet been finalised".
Kirman added yesterday: "Just stay tuned. Everybody involved is trying to make sure Clementine's story is told. It's a very unfortunate situation, but hopefully we will come out of it in some kind of positive way.
