Someone left Google’s Pixel 3 XL in the back of a Lyft – weeks before official reveal

THE LATEST Pixel 3 XL leak is up there with the biggest smartphone screw-ups of all time – arriving after someone left the upcoming flagship in the back of a cab.

It's just as bad as when an Apple software engineer forgot the then unreleased in a bar back in 2010.

This particular blower is a "pre-production unit" that was lost in the back of a Lyft ride by who we can only assume is a Google employee.

The anonymous Lyft driver then naturally took a bunch of pics of the new handset and sent them to .

So what do the new images tell us? Well, it's more confirmation that the larger of the two new Pixels has a divisive notch at the top pinched from the iPhone X.

Google added support for the design feature to its Android Pie developer preview in March, fuelling rumours it was making space for it on the new blowers.

The big G is also bucking trends by sticking two cameras on the front (maybe for enhanced selfies with auto-bokeh), while sticking with just the sole snapper on the back.

But seeing as the Pixel 2's single-lens rear camera was heaped with praise, we doubt an extra lens or two will go amiss this time round.

There's also that fingerprint sensor positioned in the middle on the back, just like on the regular Pixel 3.

Other leaks, meanwhile, have shown us the Pixel 3 XL from all angles, including in the form of an unboxing and various static shots.

Conflicting reports claim the phone will arrive on either October 4 or October 9 – so not long till we get to see it in the flesh.
