Battlefield V release date delayed until November after gameplay complaints

BATTLEFIELD V won't be coming out until November 20 because it needs 'meaningful improvements', developer DICE has confirmed.

The latest Battlefield games was originally meant to come out on October 19, a week after arch-rival Call of Duty releases Black Ops IV, but feedback from closed testing and the summer's big gaming shows has .

"We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver," DICE said.

Changes that they decided were needed included "adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction," as well as some additional work on the new online-driven Tides of War component.

"We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer," DICE continued, "but we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right."

"We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands. A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War - a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together," the statement read.

Battlefield V has been mired in controversy since its debut, with complaints about the presence of women, the revelation it would be getting a battle royale mode and more.

There is an open beta for the game starting next week, on September 6. This will include a five-part Tides of War event, two 64-player Conquest maps set in Norway and Holland.

If you subscribe to either EA Access, Origin Access, Origin Access Premier, or have pre-ordered the game then you'll be able to jump in two days early, on September 4. It will run on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The change also means it will be coming out after the autumn's other juggernaut, Red Dead Redemption 2; Rockstar's Western epic is still due out on October 26.
