Razer’s Raiju PS4 controllers could make you a Fortnite pro – for £200

Razer's new Raiju controllers cost a pretty penny, but could be the edge you've been looking for

RAZER has announced a pair of new PlayStation 4 controllers that could take your gaming to the next level - if you've got £200 burning a hole in your pocket.

On the eve of GamesCom, Europe's biggest video games event, the peripheral maker has revealed The Raiju Tournament Edition and Raiju Ultimate Edition controllers for the PlayStation 4.

One of the selling points of the Ultimate version is its interchangeable D-Pads, so you can pick the one that suits the game you're playing

They can both be used wirelessly and plugged in, and is "the most modular PS4 controller ever", according to Razer.

As well as the full array of buttons you'd expect, it has four more customisable buttons on the back which you can set to be anything you like, using a mobile app.

The app can store multiple profiles, so you can set it up as you like it for different games. You can set up the rear buttons as shortcuts for building in Fortnite, for instance, and finally master fast-paced building to get cover and height advantage over your opponents.

The four extra buttons on the back can be reprogrammed at will - with the Ultimate being able to store four different profiles on board

This is particularly timely, with Epic Games recently announcing plans to sequester keyboard-and-mouse console players from those using controllers.

The Ultimate Edition also comes with the ability to swap your d-pad and joysticks around, should you want to, and is integrated with Razer's ultra-fancy Chroma lighting system, so it syncs up with your other peripherals on PC or even your Hue lighting at home to kick your atmosphere up a notch.

We're hoping to get hands on with the Raiju controllers at GamesCom, so will report back on the responsive Mecha-Tactile buttons.

The controllers are both compatible with PC as well as PS4. They will work natively with Steam games, and come with drivers to work with other PC titles as well.
