FORTNITE is already available on top-tier Samsung phones – but what about other Android mobile users?

Here's a complete guide to getting Fortnite on all other Android devices, for anyone who doesn't own a pricey Samsung blower.

How to get Fortnite on Android – the official way

Fortnite is already available on Android phones right now, but it's exclusively available on Samsung phones for a limited time.

Simply head over to Fortnite.com/Android, or click the following link:

For anyone with a Samsung Galaxy S7 or better, you should receive an invitation to play the game immediately.

Everyone else will be able to download the game, but won't actually get to play until Epic Games enables support for your device.

Importantly, the game isn't available on the official Google Play store.

Instead, you'll need to download an .apk file, which is a raw application file that hasn't been vetted by Google.

Fortnite Android support devices – which phones will work?

Initially, only the following Samsung devices will support Fortnite:

Samsung Galaxy: S7 / S7 Edge

  • S8 / S8+
  • S9 / S9+
  • Note 8
  • Note 9
  • Tab S3
  • Tab S4

However, the game will eventually become available on the following products:

  • Google: Pixel / Pixel XL, Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL
  • Asus: ROG Phone, Zenfone 4 Pro, 5Z, V
  • Essential: PH-1
  • Huawei: Honor 10, Honor Play, Mate 10 / Pro, Mate RS, Nova 3, P20 / Pro, V10
  • LG: G5, G6, G7 ThinQ, V20, V30 / V30+
  • Nokia: 8
  • OnePlus: 5 / 5T, 6
  • Razer: Phone
  • Xiaomi: Blackshark, Mi 5 / 5S / 5S Plus, 6 / 6 Plus, Mi 8 / 8 Explorer / 8SE, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Note 2
  • ZTE: Axon 7 / 7s, Axon M, Nubia / Z17 / Z17s, Nubia Z11

It's not clear how long it'll take to get the game on other devices.

It could be days or weeks – but all of these products will eventually support Fortnite.

If your phone didn't make the list, it's probably because it's not powerful enough.

At the very least, you need a phone running 64-bit Android 5.0 Lollipop (or more recent) software, 3GB of spare storage space, 3GB of RAM, and a Adreno 530, Mali-G71 MP20 or Mali-G72 MP12 GPU (or better).

Fortnite on Android – can you skip the queue WITHOUT a Samsung phone?

It is possible to play Fortnite on your Android phone immediately, even if you don't have a Samsung smartphone – but we'd advise against it.

Of course, you'll first need a device that meets the minimum hardware requirements, which we've listed above.

There are modified .apk files that look exactly like the real game, but that have been tweaked slightly.

For example, on popular developer forum XDA has a modified version of the game.

So how does it work?

The only change this version of the game has is that it tricks Epic Games into thinking you're using a Samsung Galaxy S9 – even if you're not.

Right now, that's the only way to get into Fortnite on Android using a non-supported device.

But we recommend having patience, rather than using a rogue system like this.

The problem with these modified .apk files is that they're not "signed" by Epic Games, which means the developers can tell you're not using an authentic version of the game.

This could result in your account being banned from the game, and potentially losing items you've paid for with real money.

Modified apps can also work in unintended ways, and could also cause problems with your device.

So it's almost certainly worth waiting for your phone to receive official support, rather than risking a ban.

In any case, be very careful about how you download Fortnite on Android.

The Sun recently uncovered a host of Fortnite scams that target players trying to get Android versions of the game.

Some of these scams will generate cash for fraudsters through ads, but other hoax download links try to trick you into handing over your own money for the game.

As always, we recommend downloading the game through the official Epic Games website, rather than relying on potentially dodgy third-party websites.
