Google Pixel 3 XL blasted by fans for ‘COPYING Apple’ with iPhone X design after huge leak
GOOGLE'S next smartphone seems to have leaked online – and gadget fans aren't happy.
The tech giant has been accused of "copying Apple" after a leaked video revealed a design that looks very similar to last year's iPhone X.

Angry smartphone enthusiasts have hit out at Google over its new phone design for borrowing Apple features.
Tech blog Android Police a leaked video of the unreleased Google Pixel 3 XL (expected to launch in the next few weeks) to YouTube.
The video reveals a number of key features about the phone, including the addition of a "notched" iPhone X-style screen, and the removal of the headphone jack.
One furious Redditor blasted Google for "removing the headphone jack, getting the notch", saying: "I'm really worried about Google copying Apple for their high-end device."

They added: "I don't get it. I feel like Samsung is probably the most original Android phone company now."
So what's the big problem?
Last year, Apple revealed the iPhone X, debuting a new all-screen design.
In order to fill the front of the phone with screen, the fingerprint scanner was ditched – and a small notch was added into the top of the display.
This small jut-out contained important sensors and a camera, and proved controversial at the time.
Since then, lots of Android phone makers have copied the move, infuriating gadget fans.
Apple also infamously removed the headphone jack with the iPhone 7 back in 2017 – a move which Google appears to be following.

But not everyone is happy about it.
"I don't see any reason for them to take the jack out and add the notch, but they did it any ways," wrote Google fan patxs, on Reddit.
"I think they just did it because it's popular right now. I don't think they would've ever done it if Apple (or any other big company) hadn't done it first."
Some suggested the design change is a coup to attract Apple fans.
But one Reddit user explained: "They're not going to gain Apple users by coming out with an uglier phone with a foreign OS at the same price-point as an [iPhone] X."
A big part of the problem is that the Google Pixel 3 XL appears to have a very large notch, much bigger than Apple's equivalent.
This means it eats into a big part of the screen, which isn't necessarily the most attractive design choice.
"See, I don't mind a notch. In fact, don't even notice them...as long as they're, like, normal-sized. This thing is freaking huge," wrote PapaDave130 on Reddit.
Another described it as looking like a "bathtub on your screen".
And Reddit user DarkSentencer said: "This is wonky as hell and looks like a cheap half-assed knock off based on leaked iPhone X notch rumours.
"Whoever was in charge of design and aesthetics is a doofus."

The Google Pixel 3 XL is expected to launch at any point from now until October.
According to leaks, we're likely to see a large 6.7-inch screen and dual cameras on the back of the phone.
It's also a given that the new phone will come running Google's latest Android 9.0 Pie software.
There's also a very good chance there'll be a smaller version of the phone available at launch too, likely dubbed Google Pixel 3.
Sadly, Google hasn't confirmed anything about its next smartphones yet, so take all rumours and leaks with due caution for now.
