Galaxy Note 9 REVEALED? Samsung boss pictured using mystery smartphone in broad daylight

This could be the best evidence yet that Samsung is about to launch the new Galaxy Note 9

SAMSUNG'S top boss has accidentally revealed a mysterious handset believed to be the company's next big phone.

The South Korean CEO was spotted (and pictured) using an unreleased smartphone, which may be the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9, just a few weeks away.

That means the phone is almost certainly completed, and is probably being tested by Samsung staffers – including DJ Koh, the CEO.

The big boss was photographed at a media event yesterday, where he was using a previously unseen Samsung device.

Koh is clearly pictured using a large Samsung smartphone with a stylus – a trademark feature of Note-series handsets.

So how do we know that this isn't any old Samsung phone?

Specialist blog SamMobile has been doing some digging (or zooming, rather), and uncovered a telling difference.

Last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 8 had a horizontal camera set-up on the back, with a fingerprint scanner positioned to the right side of it.

But Samsung has been heavily rumoured to be moving the fingerprint scanner underneath the camera on this year's Galaxy Note 9 instead.

Lo and behold, DJ Koh's mystery Samsung phone appears to fit the bill.

The image is a little grainy, but there's definitely a T-shape indent on the back of the handset, which is clearly different from Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.

That means we're inclined to believe that Samsung's CEO is using the company's next big phone – not a major surprise, really.

It's not the first time a smartphone has been mistakenly exposed to the public.

Back in April 2010, Apple was famously caught up in a major leak caused by a reckless employee.

An Apple staffer left the iPhone 4 in a bar in Redwood City, California months before the planned September launch.

The prototype phone was picked up and sold on to gadget blog Gizmodo for $5,000, and eventually revealed to the public in a product review.

At least Samsung's boss managed to keep a hold on his shiny new handset.

What else should we expect from Samsung's next blower?

Rumour has it that the phone will feature a huge 6.3-inch OLED screen, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6 gigabytes of RAM, and a generous 128 gigabytes of storage.

We expect to see a dual-camera set-up on the back, and a hefty 4,000mAh battery that should provide at least a full day's usage per charge.

Do you think Samsung's boss should know better than to show off a secret gadget in public? Let us know in the comments!
