Green Man Gaming hands 10 per cent discount to ‘community heroes’ from NHS and emergency services
The firm is the first game store to sign up to the Blue Light Card discount scheme, and follows it offering the same discount to members of the armed forces and their families
GREEN MAN GAMING has revealed it’s giving a 10 percent discount on EVERYTHING to all NHS staff and members of the emergency services.
These “community heroes” can now get money off games under the Blue Light Card, with Green Man the first games retailer to sign up for the scheme.
To get the money off members of the UK Emergency Services, NHS need to register for a Blue Light Discount Card.
The online store, which sells full games and downloadable content at bargain prices, already offers a similar discount to our brave boys and girls in the military, and their familes through the Defence Discount Service.
Paul Sulyok, Green Man Gaming’s CEO and Founder, said “as a veteran myself, I understand the challenges that come with being part of the community and strongly believe in giving something back to those brave and determined service men and women who have served the country, as well as their families.”
It comes after Starbucks announced it was giving back to everyday heroes by offering them 10 per cent off their bill whenever they shop at the coffee chain.
If you work in any of the professions mentioned below you can sign up for a Blue Light or Defence Discount card.
The cards both cost £4.99 if you want to use them on the high street, but they are completely free if you only use them for online deals.
Both Cards can be used for five years, and offers hundreds of discounts both online and on the high street.
CAN I QUALIFY FOR A BLUE LIGHT OR DEFENCE DISCOUNT CARD?
Here is the list of professions that qualify for each of the discount cards.
Blue Light Card
- 4×4 response, Ambulance Service, Blood Bikes, Border Force, British Army, Cave Rescue, Community First Responders, Fire Service, Highways Agency, HM Armed Forces Veterans, HM Coastguard, HM Prison Service, Immigration Enforcement, Lowland Search and Rescue, MoD Civil Servant, MoD Fire Service, MoD Police, Mountain Rescue, NHS, Police, Red Cross, Reserved Armed Forces, RNLI, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Search and Rescue, Second Line Responders, St Andrews Ambulance, St John Ambulance, UK Visa and Immigration
Defence Discount Card
- Serving Armed Forces, Reserve Forces, Spouses/Partners of Serving Personnel, HM Armed Forces Veterans (ex serving), MoD Civil Servants, Bereaved Family Members, War/Service Widow(er)s, Cadet Forces (over 16), Nato Personnel in the UK
You have to be signed up to either of the two discount cards to be able to see which offers are available.
But in the past members have been able to get deals such as 20% off shopping at Superdry and 10% off your Iceland shop.
Sulyok said: “This is for all those men and women that proudly serve our society every day, making the UK a better and safer place for all of us.
“Hopefully our games will help the emergency services relax when they’re off duty and for some, pass those long, quiet hours before that inevitable call to another incident.”
Spurs have also been lending a hand to everyday heroes recently by employing ex-serviceman.
Several former veterans represented their country at The Winter Olympics, and are still representing the UK at the Winter Paralympics this week.
