Red Dead Redemption 2 getting two special editions and collector’s box stuffed with loot
£89.99 Ultimate Edition gets you all the digital extras for story mode and online - and a further £89.99 will get you all manner of physical goodies to boot
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 has been top of many gamers' wishlists for years--and today developer Rockstar revealed exactly what we will get when we finally get our grubby mitts on the wild west shooter on October 26th.
The game comes in three different digital pre-order editions for Xbox One and PS4 - while a separate lockable metal Collector's Box will contain all the physical extras you could want.
Anyone who pre-orders the game before July 31 will get themselves a horse and an Outlaw Survival Kit to make life easier at the start of your life on the frontier. Pre-ordering the game will cost you £54.99--though will only set you back £49.99.
If you pre-order it digitally via the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store you will also get an in-game cash bonus big enough to buy yourself "a weapon, some food, a handful of useful items and ammunition."
Early digital pre-orders -- currently £59.99 on both platforms -- will also come with a treasure map to find a hidden cache of riches, though only for those who pre-order before the end of July.
However, it's at the Special Edition where things start to get interesting. This £74.99 version of the game includes even more cash, a slew of in-game discounts and cash bonuses and an exclusive bank robbery mission with appropriate hide-out.
It also comes with another horse -- a thoroughbred racehorse, no less -- along with an exclusive saddle and outfit. You'll also get three weapons in-game gunsmiths would normally charge a pretty penny for free -- the Volcanic Pistol, Pump Action Shotgun and Lancaster Varmint Rifle.
The £89.99 Ultimate Edition is aimed at people who think they'll be diving into the online mode from the get go and forging their own path through the dying embers of the old West. This includes a pair of online-only outfits, a horse and exclusive saddle for online use, the ability to get those three story mode guns for free online, and free access to a premium theme for your campsite.
Ultimate Edition players will also be able to rank up faster online, initially at least.
There is also a physical box of loot coming to go with any of the above editions, so the purists among you don't need to shell out for online doodads or story mode help you don't want it, but still want all the shinies.
