PS5 HOPES DASHED

Sony’s E3 press conference won’t feature new hardware – and will only showcase FOUR games

Sony fans will have to make do with the PS4 Pro for now - and more info in Spider-Man, The Last of Us: Part II, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima

GAMERS eager for new shinies to ogle from next month's E3 should be ready for disappointment -- Sony today confirmed it doesn't have any new hardware to show off in Los Angeles.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios's boss Shawn Layden told a PlayStation podcast over the weekend that the firm's E3 conference will primarily just be exclusive looks at four games.

Layden also categorically stated that "there will be no new hardware announcements at E3" from the firm.

While there will be brief presentations and announcements from other publishers, Sony is concentrating on the next Spider-Man game, The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.

Of those, it seems like Spider-Man fans may only get a -- hopefully lengthy -- trailer, with Layden just promising a "drop" on the game.

Death Stranding, from Metal Gear Solid house Kojima Productions, will feature with a "complete" report on how the game is coming.
