Snakehive leather case for the Samsung Galaxy S9 2

SAMSUNG's Galaxy S9 was released in March to rave reviews.

We gave the fancy handset a great review, saying it’s a worthy contender to Apple and the iPhone X. But what about S9 cases?

It pays to protect your phone

It pays to protect your phone

Like most top smartphones, the S9 doesn’t come cheap.

The cheapest you can buy it SIM-free is around £750, with most contracts costing upwards of £35 a month.

Even if you’ve got phone insurance, there’s still usually a hefty excess to pay if you break the screen or damage it another way, so it pays to buy a case to keep your phone in good condition.

Below we’ve picked out some of the best Galaxy S9 cases you can buy today.

Samsung Silicone case

  • £13.51 from Amazon -

This silicone Samsung case is a winner. Sometimes it’s best to go straight to the manufacturer for a case as you can be sure it’ll fit properly and function well.

Of the Samsung cases on offer, I prefer the Silicone model as it’s the slimmest model that’s also very affordable - I’ve seen it on Amazon for under £15.

It seems reasonably protective from small falls and protects the front of the screen well with raised bezels at the front.

On top of that, because it’s silicone, it feels great in the hand.

Speck Presidio Grip Case

Speck's grip cases are pretty...grippy

I’m a big fan of Speck cases from when I tested them for iPhones, and the Grip Case for the S9 kept my faith with the brand.

It’s a slim case that’s been drop tested to 10 feet and, funnily enough, is very easy to grip, reducing your chances of spilling your S9 onto the pavement.

Speck’s case keeps your phone’s buttons easy to use and doesn’t obstruct the headphone jack, the speaker or the fingerprint scanner.

It’s also very affordable at £19.95 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Snakehive flip case

Snakehive produce a range of real leather phone cases at a very decent price.

Available for £24.95, you can buy this flip case in a number of different colours, all of which look pretty smart.

The plastic case within the wallet is pretty basic, but the leather exterior should protect your phone from most knocks.

The Snakehive range aren’t the highest spec cases, but they certainly look good.

Gear4: Victoria

Gear4 have developed a range of cases for the S9, including the transparent Victoria model I tested.

By raising the bezels on the corners of its S9 case, Gear4 have managed to make it feel protective without obstructing the curved screen.

The plastic feels tough, if a little bulky in the hand, but the buttons are still easy to use.

And there’s a good range of designs available to match your style

Casetify Impact Case

  • £39 from Casetify -

Casetify cases are expensive, but if you value protection and style, they're worth it.

They've got a crazy number of designs for all phone models, and their impact range of cases provide maximum protection for your S9.

The downside of Casetify is the price (obviously) and the buttons don't always feel amazing to use.

But you can pick a great design and your phone will thank you for it.

Greenwich Folio Case

  • £95 from Proporta -

Greenwich cases are fantastic, but expensive

If you want the ultimate luxury phone accessory, it's well worth checking out the cases at Greenwich.

They produce premium cases made from a mix of leather and carbon fibre for extremely tough cases that remain light, elegant and stylish.

The downside? They're incredibly expensive.

On the plus side they arrive in one of the most extravagant gift boxes I've ever seen and you feel like you're getting your money's worth.

The verdict

Of the Samsung Galaxy S9 cases I tested, the official silicone case from Samsung was my favourite.

It fitted well, was a treat to use and felt great in the hand, all while costing .

It’s everything I want from a phone case.
