Fortnite’s iPhone app ‘rakes in £18.4MILLION from addons in just two weeks’

The game's North Carolina-based creators release limited edition content for Fortnite every few months, ranging from powerful new weapon upgrades to new outfits

FORTNITE makers have allegedly seen their fortunes double within two weeks – thanks to the soaring success of their in-app addons.

Epic Games have reportedly raked in an eye-watering £18.4 million in the space of 14 days as players continue to be engrossed in the popular survival game.

The projected revenue allegedly comes from sales of virtual addons on the iPhone app.

The game – in which players create a superhero avatar and compete against each other on an island – made more than £21 million within the first 30 days of its mobile launch.

Fornite Battle Royale is a free game available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac and now iPhone too.

Although the game is free to download, it offers in-app purchases for in-game currency, and has proved phenomenally popular.

reports that player spending in the game in on May 1 grew 293 per cent – four times as much as the week before.

They say that the rapid quadrupling of revenue allegedly resulted from a significant number of players laying out about £8.50 worth of in-game currency apiece for Fortnite’s season four Battle Pass, which unlocks additional content and other perks for completing specific challenges during the season.

According to SensorTower’s data, Fortnite is currently raking in an average of £838,500 a day in player spending on the mobile version of the game.
