Teen Fortnite addict gets huge TATTOO of his fave character from the hit video game

A TEEN Fortnite addict has taken his love for the video game to new heights by getting a massive tattoo of one of its characters.

Jordan, a 19-year-old college student from Wolverhampton, stays locked away in his bedroom playing Fortnite all night when he's not at school, his mum Kerry told The Sun.

He even skipped class to complete the game's Season 4 challenges released earlier this month.

And now Jordan has a huge tattoo of the astronaut skin from Fortnite on his leg to prove his love for the gaming phenomenon.

The body ink measures around 30cm and also features the storm (a virtual weather event that makes the game's map smaller) in the background.

Released last September, Fortnite Battle Royale is a free-to-play title that's now arguably the most popular video game in the world.

The setup is straightforward: 100 players drop into a tropical island to fight to the death using weapons and items in a last-man-standing deathmatch.

That simple concept – along with the popularity of the battle royal genre, in particular PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds – has contributed to the game's record-breaking success.

In just a few months, Fortnite has amassed 40 million downloads and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

After conquering PCs and consoles, the title arrived on iPhones in March.

But by going portable it's also attracted its fair share of controversy.

Teachers in the US have complained that the mobile game is disrupting classrooms and causing fights.

Meanwhile, in the UK, the NSPCC recently issued a warning for parents citing the game's predatory text chat feature and cartoon violence.

There's also been a growing backlash over Fortnite's alleged addictive nature, despite psychologists shooting down concerns as unrealistic.

But Jordan is well and truly hooked, according to his mum.

The electronics student dreamt up the tattoo himself and has had around four hours of needlework on it so far, with an hour still to go.

"My mates like it," said Jordan when we asked him about the reaction to his unique tat.

"They say it looks better than they thought it would," he added.

But the most enthusiastic reception has come from the tattoo artist who made it – though that's probably down to his own Fortnite obsession.

"Andy at the old tattoo emporium in Wolverhampton really likes the game himself so he has done the whole tattoo for only £50, which jordan has payed for out of his birthday money ," Kerry told us.

"He still has another hours worth of tattoo to go back for as Andy is really enjoying doing it and always adding more detail".

Those extra artistic flourishes include thunderbolts in the tattoo's storm and little stick men getting sucked into it.

Jordan says this is his second tattoo – the other is of a world war two plane on his arm.

Surprisingly, his mother is fine with her teenage son's decision.

"It's something different," said the mum of two, who has tattoos of her own (including the names of Jordan and his sister).

Asked if she plans to get a matching Fortnite tat, she laughed it off, adding "definitely not".
