Rumoured Xbox game rental feature could save you loads of money

MICROSOFT could be plotting an online game rental service for Xbox One owners, according to a new leak.

It means gamers wouldn't have to keep forking out for brand new games, some of which they might complete in a few hours or days.

A Twitter user has posted a screenshot of the Brazilian Xbox Store that suggests the feature may already be out in the wild.

AllGamesDelta's shows an Xbox screen with the option to rent Forza Motorsport 7 for R$69 (~£15).

According to the image, this would get you the game for a total of three months – before losing access.

That's a decent saving, because the official Xbox Store price for Forza in the UK is £49.99 (although it's currently on sale for £29.99).

This means gamers could be saving around £35 by deciding to rent a game instead of buy it permanently.

It would be a great option for single-player games that you might finish quickly – and are unlikely to return to.

Interestingly it appears that this service is completely separate from Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass.

That's Microsoft's official subscription service, which gets you access to a host of games for a £9.99 monthly fee.

Sadly, Microsoft hasn't actually confirmed the launch of any such feature.

We've asked Xbox for comment and will update this article with any response.
