CRACKDOWN 3 has set tongues wagging with its city-levelling stunts – but when can you get your grubby mits on it?
We've compiled all the leaks, news, and rumours on the third instalment in the Crackdown series – plus we've thrown in trailers for good measure.
What is Crackdown 3?
The Crackdown series was Microsoft's answer to the open-world mayhem of the massively popular Grand Theft Auto franchise.
It launched with Crackdown for the Xbox 360 in 2007, and was followed by Crackdown 2 in 2010.
Set in the fictional metropolis of New Providence, the game sees you play as a biologically enhanced agent tasked with defeating underworld kingpins (and their lowlife cronies).
How you eliminate them is up to you, with the entire world open for exploration from the get-go.
Along the way you can also complete street races and scavenger hunts to top up your abilities, and team up with mates online.
Crackdown 3 cranks up the action to 11, adding full-scale city destruction to the multiplayer proceedings.
Imagine if you could run around destroying entire buildings in GTA Online and you're there.
The multiplayer part boasts 10-person player vs player action in a fully-destructible battle arena, where the aim is to smash the opposing team's tower before the timer stops.
Campaign mode dials down the chaos a tad, removing the full-on demolition to allow for offline play that won't short-circuit your machine.
Crackdown 3 release date – when is part three out?
The third Crackdown was supposed to launch with Microsoft's souped-up Xbox One X in November 2017.
But that date came and went -- and the official release date was shifted to February 2019.
To be precise, the game is now set for release on Friday, February 15.
On that day anyone who subscribes to Xbox Game Pass will be able to jump in and access it for free -- or you can pop down the shops and get a copy of it the traditional way.

Crackdown 3 consoles – where can you play it?
Just when everyone was bemoaning a lack of Xbox exclusives Microsoft delivers Crackdown 3.
And it's also available for Windows PCs.
Of course, that means it won't be coming to PS4 any time soon.
Finally something for Xbox owners to cheer about.
