US military developing top secret laser weapon that can generate the sound of voice out of thin air to scare enemy to death

THE US military is developing a creepy new weapon - a laser which beams out a spooky 'human' voice.
The Pentagon's non-lethal weapons lab has released footage of the laser which mimics speech to scare the hell out of enemies.
It’s an auditory effect created by military scientists who manipulated the air with lasers - creating words out of atoms in the atmosphere.
They hope the high-tech device will stop people charging checkpoints, according to .
The weapon comprises of two parts - a femtosecond laser, which shoots a burst of light for 10−15 seconds, creating a ball of plasma.
Scientists then hit that plasma with a nanolaser, to manipulate the way that can produce light and noise.
David Law, who runs the technology research division said: "We’re this close to getting it to speak to us. I need three or four more kilohertz."
He said he wants to develop the laser to also produce light and heat.
The voice laser doesn't project sound from a speaker, but can beam it directly towards an enemy, meaning the voices appear from thin air.
Last month, we revealed the US is close to unveiling new super-powered lasers capable of zapping nukes straight out of the sky.
The 150-kilowatt weapons will be fitted to warships and are able to 'take out' drones, aircraft, cruise missiles and even other ships.
"The previous laser prototype was tested in the Persian Gulf three years ago aboard an amphibious the USS Ponce," said Col Mikhail Khodarenok, former editor of the Military-Industrial Courier.
"Navy commanders were not satisfied with the results of the tests of a 30-kilowatt gun and the project was transferred to another company,”
It's now believed in a year’s time the weapon will be ready to be deployed on board a US aircraft carrier or destroyer.
Russia is also known to be developing laser systems, but there is little information about them as the projects are top secret.
“Russian laser systems are integrated in other weapon systems, and are used for target assignment and other combat support functions,” said TASS military analyst Colonel (retired) Viktor Litovkin.
“The Russian systems have not yet developed full-fledged combat independence as demonstrated by their American equivalents.”

He went on to say that laser weapons have one fundamental flaw – so far they can be used only in ideal weather conditions.
“At the moment, American laser weapons can operate only in clear sunny weather, when there is no rain, fog or dust,” Litovkin added.
“And then add to this the chaos of real combat conditions when the earth is exploding on every side.”
