What is PUBG? PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds explained

PUBG is a battle royale game that sees up to 100 players dropped onto an island to compete in a last-person-standing deathmatch.

Players collect resources and weapons to get an edge over opponents.

It's very similar to Fortnite Battle Royale, a hugely popular game that can be played on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Mac, iPhone and Android.

PUBG launched back in December 2017 for Xbox One and Windows PC, and is now available on iPhone and Android too.

How get PUBG on iPhone and Android

The game landed on iPhone and Android in March 2018.

You can download it for free using the following links:

Sadly, an Apple alert confirmed our worst fears: "The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK Store, but it is available in the US Store."

However, the game's creator TenCent says it's rolling out by timezones, so it's likely we'll see a UK release very soon.

TenCent has already confirmed that the game will be coming to "more regions", but it seems Europe hasn't lucked out.

However, players in the USA and Canada are reporting that they can play it, which is encouraging.

It's worth noting that unlike Fortnite, PUBG won't support cross-play on mobile.

With Fortnite, mobile players can enter games with people on Xbox, PlayStation and even computers.

But PUBG players will be limited to gaming with other mobile gamers.
