Snapchat update lets you share Stories with people who don’t even use the app – here’s how to use it
SNAPCHAT is finally making it easier to share Stories with people who don't use the app.
People who have made a point of avoiding Snapchat can now be inundated with a whole range of snaps from top celebs and major events.
Until now, the only way to share Snapchat content with friends and family was through the app – relying on the other person to also have it installed.
Some users got around this by saving their photos and clips to their phone storage, and then sharing them through services like WhatsApp.
If you wanted to share someone else's story, you'd have to screen-grab or screen-record the image or video.
But Snapchat is now adding a dedicated sharing feature that will let you fling your favourite Stories to absolutely anyone.
A new update will introduce the ability to share snaps from Official Stories, Our Stories, and Search Stories.
To do this, you need to dive into the Discover part of Snapchat, and look for a story you'd like to share.
By pressing and holding down on certain 'tiles', you'll bring up a mini-profile.
Select "Share Story" and then choose how you'd like to share it outside of Snapchat – by text, e-mail, or posting to other platforms.
The update also means that journalists will be able to embed Snapchat Stories in articles, so you're probably going to see a lot more snap-laden listicles going forward.
Anyone who receives a Snapchat Story link from you won't even need the app to view it. They can simply view the Story you shared through a new Story player on the company's official website.
Not all Stories will be shareable – random Stories from your friends can't be shared, and The Sun is aware that content from publisher's isn't available "at the moment", but may be in the future.
So what can you share? First, there's Official Stories – these are from a small group of notable Snapchatters, including top celebs like Phillip Schofield, Dua Lipa, Chris Froome, Stormzy, Anthony Joshua, Joe Wicks, Millie Bobby Brown, Rita Ora, and Niall Horan.
You can also share Our Stories, which are a collection of snaps curated by Snapchat around major events, like Glastonbury, Pancake Day, or the Winter Olympics.
Finally, you can share Search Stories, which are stories based around terms you search for in the app – like "puppies" or "football".
More than 10 million Brits use Snapchat every day, which accounts for around 25% of all the smartphone users in the country.
Daily users visit the app 25 times every single day, and create upwards of 20 snaps daily.
Young people account for the majority of Snapchat's user-base, with a reach of around 70% for 13 to 34-year-olds in Britain.
